You may have already seen this blog on the Life in my Shoes blog, but we’re so proud of everything that has been achieved with LIMS in the last year, we thought we’d re-post it here too…
This week was a very special week for the LIMS team … not only is it 1 year since we launched LIMS and the Search for a star competition, but it was the week that the LIMS Ambassadors ran a Life in my Shoes NIGHT for Teen Spirit.
They got to show their peers and members of Teen Spirit some of the work they have been doing for the campaign over the past year and more importantly, plan the evening’s workshops to make sure each and every teen spirit member got new and exciting opportunities to be involved in the campaign in different ways.
As Teen Spirit members arrived there was time to surf the website, give us their blog post ideas, take shoe pictures and help create the ‘Life in My Shoes’ art installation.
The night kicked-off with a group time activity run by the Teen Spirit Board of directors. Teens got to know about life in each other‘s shoes by literally swapping shoes! It was a little smelly… but lots of fun.
Workshops run by the TeenSpirit board included; Drama improvisation , a workshop focussing on the theme of HIV in the Classroom and exploring questions such as; who would you tell, how do you think your friends would react, what should the teacher do? Other groups focussed on Illustration, Mask and Film Making ; a range of creative workshops exploring the theme of identity.
The evening ended with a performance from the drama workshop and a rendition of the ‘Life in My Shoes’ song, before some DJing in the basement rounded off a great night.
