I find it hard to believe that I am a week into my new role here at Body & Soul. I remember walking in the door last Thursday and the building seemed completely different, it was like walking into a dream.
Since then time has flown as I reorient myself to an organisation that I felt I knew well from 4 years of volunteering. What I’ve particularly appreciated is that my view of the organisation has been strengthened by becoming an employee.
I look forward to the many challenges the year ahead will bring. It’s not every day that you get asked to start a business, especially a business where your integrity and the ethical work of the business is just as important as the business’s ability to make money. Yes my goal here will be to make money to help fund the charity, but what I like about it is that I need to make money in an ethical and sustainable way.
You’ll see and hear more from me in the coming months. My role is to develop new business opportunities for Body & Soul. We’ll be working to develop a social enterprise which will offer products and services the proceeds of which will help make Body & Soul’s funding stream more sustainable.
