“If you do things well, do them better. Be daring, be first, be different, be just.”
Today marks the sixth year since the untimely death of Body & Soul founding patron Dame Anita Roddick.
The strength of Anita’s support and courage continues to resonate throughout Body & Soul
Anita was a unique and amazing woman. At Body & Soul, she was whirlwind of energy that burst into a room with bundles of optimism.
She was an activist up to the day she died and never put her name to a cause without giving it real and true dedication. The continued calls every few weeks to check how we at Body & Soul were doing never ceased over the 11 years that we knew her.
It’s rare to meet someone who genuinely cares about the world for no other reason than wanting to see an end to oppression and a world where human rights are paramount, but that was Anita. It is at those times when speaking up is the hardest thing to do that it becomes the most important thing to do and Anita knew that her voice could reach further than those struggling to be heard.
Anita had no other agenda than wanting to make a difference and at Body & Soul we can testify to her achievement of this – not only with HIV, but on so many social and environmental issues. Anita made this world a better place and her loss continues to resonate with all of us.
