Thinking about Bravery

Thanks to Teen Spirit member C for this post.

The Oxford Dictionary defines bravery as being ‘ready to face and endure danger or pain: showing courage’.

But to me, bravery is something that one is lucky to possess; being brave is one of the hardest things in the world. Bravery is telling the world ‘this is who I am, this is what I’ve done wrong, deal with it’; being who you are without being scared that you’ll get persecuted for it; saying what you feel without the fear of the world not agreeing with it; trusting someone enough to open your heart to them or doing something you’re think you’re good at.

All these things are hard but by being brave you can actually surprise yourself. I believe that being brave is what Body & Soul is all about, confiding in one another, a place where bravery and courage is outstanding. Living with HIV is being brave every single day! Dealing with it and accepting that it’s there and living with it.

Our song ‘Brave’ is all about that, being courageous and not letting anything or anyone stop you from shining or being yourself!
