Opportunities to join the Body & Soul community

Posted on: 6th December 2016

Jed Marsh, Assistant Director at Body & Soul, talks about the benefits of joining the Body & Soul community.

We have just celebrated our 20th anniversary. This is an important landmark for us, not just because we enjoy a birthday party, but also because, as Emma explained here a couple of weeks ago, the next year is going to see us grow and develop at a faster rate than ever before: while we will continue to work with people of all ages affected by HIV, we will be reaching out to new groups as well, including teenagers who have been adopted and their families.

While this is certainly an exciting time for Body & Soul, the broadening of our mission also means we need more people to deliver our programmes and to support our members as we work to transform past adversity into a hopeful future. Our centre in Clerkenwell is specially designed to cultivate an environment where people can face their own challenges in a safe and supportive atmosphere, with experts on hand to help them find the best way through. The expertise we offer is a key component of the Body & Soul model. With this in mind, we are looking for specialists to join our community to increase the reach of our work and to add to the experience of the existing team.

We would love to hear from professionals qualified in:

  • Creative therapies, including art, drama and dance therapy
  • Therapeutic youth and community work and social work
  • DBT and MBT
  • Occupational therapy

…with experience in:

  • Attachment & trauma
  • Child and adolescent mental health
  • Adoption

…and who enjoy:

  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Delivering group sessions to children and adolescents
  • Drawing on a range of skills to support the wider therapeutic work in the programmes

If this is you, we would love to hear from you, whether you are interested in sessional work or an opportunity to volunteer your skills. Not only would you be helping to support our members, but you would also get to work in a truly collaborative way with other experts in our multi-disciplinary team, and to be part of Body & Soul’s whole-person model of care that stands apart from the mainstream approach to healthcare.

The programmes that we are now recruiting for run on Saturdays across the year in our Clerkenwell home.
