The years that a child attends our BaSe group (10-12 year olds) are crucial for equipping them with the skills and resources that they will need in order to face the challenges they will encounter in adolescence.
Evenings in the BaSe are structured around a particular issue. This might include decision-making, bullying, feeling isolated, controlling anger, or knowing how you can trust someone. The role of a volunteer in the BaSe is to support children in staying focused and thinking about these issues through a varied programme of creative and fun activities.
Whilst you do not need to have prior knowledge of HIV to volunteer in this group, all of the children who attend the BaSe are aware of the role that HIV plays in their lives.
