Teen Spirit is the UK’s leading service for young people aged 13-19 years who are aware of the role HIV plays in their lives. On one Saturday each month, young people choose from a range of exciting, tailored programming that is geared to promoting self-efficacy, positive self-identity, the acquisition of life skills, and health and wellbeing.
Many of the young people that we support don’t feel able to tell people outside of Body & Soul about their HIV status, so it’s vital that we provide a space where they feel able to meet other young people going through similar experiences.
Volunteer roles at Teen Spirit are tailored to match volunteers’ individual skills and interests. On any given Saturday you’ll find volunteers leading drama, fashion and martial arts workshops, teaching music and recording skills in our studio, facilitating sessions on personal development, offering support over the phone, and helping teens with homework and careers advice.
To ensure consistency, we ask Teen Spirit volunteers to commit to attending each monthly Saturday session and one monthly planning and training session, held on a Thursday evening.
